If you know which course you would like to apply for please follow the simple steps outlined below. If you would like further information, or would like to talk to the International Office about your choice of course, please don’t hesitate to contact us by fax, e-mail or telephone.
1. Application
Obtain an application form especially for international students from the International Office by downloading from the link above or by sending an e-mail to international@cityplym.ac.uk. Post, fax or e-mail your completed application form to the International Office (details below). Along with your application form, we will also need the following documents:
2. Offer of a place
The International Office will consider your application and make you a provisional offer of a place on a suitable course. We will ask you to confirm that you would like to accept this offer and to pay a £2000 administration fee to secure your place. The amount of this administration fee will be deducted from the fees you will have to pay when you enrol - it is not an additional cost to you.
3. Acceptance
If you wish to accept our offer, please let us know and pay the administration fee. You can pay this by bank transfer, credit card or cheque (if you pay by bank transfer please allow for any charges your bank may make). When we have received this payment we will issue you with a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) and CAS letter to apply for your visa to study in the UK.
4. Applying for your visa
At this stage it is essential that you start the process of applying for your visa as quickly as possible, as it can take some time. City College Plymouth has a Tier 4 sponsor licence which will be checked by visa officers when assessing your application.
You will apply for your visa at the British Embassy or High Commission in your country (in some countries your application may be sent to a nearby visa post for processing which can take longer). You will need to submit your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) when you apply for your visa as well as the qualifications listed on the CAS letter. The CAS is an online reference number which the College will give you. The CAS letter confirms you have an unconditional offer of a place on a course and will contain details of your tuition fees and how much you have already paid. You must also meet strict financial requirements.
Your CAS is valid for six months so you must use it to make an immigration application within six months of its issue.
If your visa is refused we will refund your administration fee, minus a £200 processing fee, on receipt of the visa refusal notice. Please click the link below for a copy of the College's refund policy.
5. Accommodation
Let us know as soon as you get your visa and we will send you the information and application forms you need to apply for accommodation in Plymouth, together with details of our Orientation and Welcome Session in September for new international students, and our pre-departure guide.
6. Nearly there...
At this stage, please contact us with any questions you have about arrival in Plymouth, your accommodation, your course, etc and we will provide help and advice. We can help you with detailed travel advice from where you arrive in the UK to Plymouth, including train timetables and flight times.
7. Welcome!
When you arrive in Plymouth please come and see us in the International Office as soon as possible - we are looking forward to meeting you!
If you have any questions concerning the application process for any of our courses, please contact the International Office - international@cityplym.ac.uk - and we will be happy to help.
Agents in other countries
The College works closely with agents and representatives in many countries, such as China, Vietnam, Korea, and India - these agents will help you with the application process and be able to provide expert advice in your own language. Many of them have visited Plymouth and seen the College so they can tell you what it is like from their own experience.
